And the winning book is:

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffeneger. So let the reading begin...

I will give you until Monday the 12th of April to read and comment about the book - then it will be time to pick the next one.

You can share your thoughts about the book at any time while you are reading - just click on "comments" at the bottom of this post. And of course make sure you check out the blog every now and again to see if others have commented.

Until then, happy reading! :)

I have been on a "book" hunt and found several interesting tales that I think might be good reads for us all.

So here they are:
You or Someone Like You by Chandler Burr

Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova
The Legacy by Kirsten Turner
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Graham-Smith

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

Have a look and see what you think.

I will give you until Monday 22nd February to make a decision and choose which one you would like to read. Feel free to vote for 2 if you like, but no more – would be a bit hard if you all voted for ALL of them! :) I think we should allow ourselves 2 months to read the book/s? What do you think?

Enjoy checking them out and please vote using the poll on the right hand side.

And so the story begins...

Eight years ago I started a Bookclub, which was easy enough because I worked in a bookstore and could get a bunch of book nerds all together in amongst the plethora of reading material in store. I met some wonderful people who have become close friends.

However, I did eventually leave the bookstore and while I still did travel the long way into the store after work and even continued to organise get-togethers at different places - unfortunately over time these avid readers did begin to disperse.

But I understood that it was really hard to pin-point a time when we could can all get together. Everyone lived all over the place and everyone worked different hours/jobs and sometimes the effort was just too great.

But you know what - why can't my Bookclub work virtually?

I have created this blog, not for me to blab on and on about all the books I am reading and just give MY comments and reviews on them (well... actually I do intend to do this as well) but the blog's primary function is to act as a Bookclub so I can hopefully rejoin with all my old book-loving friends and meet new ones.

So here is what I propose. Each month I will (initially until others want to give it a go too) gather together a collection of new novels and give you all the information about the books, which you can investigate further if you need. I will then ask for a vote of "which book would you rather read" and whatever book wins the most votes will be the book we read for the month/two months – whatever goes really. In the past we have sometimes chosen 2 books because we couldn’t decide!!! But you can choose to read just one or both.

What I will then ask for are your comments ONLINE - that is the beauty of it, you don't have to leave the comfort of your couch to join this Bookclub! You can read the books and comment and read other's comments via this blog all from your very own "reading area".

So now I just need to email all my book buddies and get this ball rolling. I hope to have a list of books together soon, for us to read during March. So please stay tunned!!

I invite ANYONE, letting you know though that we will be reading all sorts of genres, because sometimes you need a Bookclub to force you to tackle a different style of writing/story line – and this is really part of the reading joy.

So I welcome you all to...A Book lover’s Dream Bookclub!
